About the online Domain Check tool
The Domain Check tool checks whether a given domain is available for registration. To ensure the most reliable answer, it uses two different methods.
First, Domain Check looks for the domain in the Domain Name System (DNS). If it exists there, it has certainly already been registered. If it isn’t found in the DNS, however, it may still have been registered or otherwise be unavailable for registration.
Second, Domain Check looks for a Whois record for the domain. This, also, can indicate whether a domain is available for registration, though Whois records are not always available. If the tool finds a Whois record, it will display it, as it may contain useful information about when the domain was registered and who registered it.
After doing both lookups, Domain Check provides an overall conclusion about the domain’s availability.
